Catherine is a self taught photographer who enjoys taking documentary style images. After working as a primary school teacher for a number of years her interest in photography led her to study a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at Hereford in 2019. Here she also became interested in making cyanotypes and explored combining photographs with encaustic wax.
Past personal projects have focused on preserving memories. They have included photographing her grandmother’s empty house and her ancestral home in Scotland. In 2016 Catherine documented the making of the Eisteddfod Crown by jeweller Deborah Edwards. More recent personal projects have included photographing the effects of the recent floods on the local landscape and documenting her three teenagers during the lockdown.
